Welcome

Welcome to Yiqing Liu, Yihan Liu, Kingi Subritzky, Panhaboth Meng and Panhavatey Meng who have started at our school. Our current roll is 833.

Thank you

Thank you to everyone who has helped our school in any way this term. Your help and support is really appreciated by everyone here at school. We have strong community support for our school and we are very lucky to have this. Don’t forget that Country Show Day is on Saturday 28 October and early next term we’ll be asking for class volunteers to help supervise Country Show Day stalls. We will be asking for just an hour of your time on Saturday 28 October, so don’t forget to sign up for that next term.

Term 4

Term 4 starts on Monday 9 October and finishes on Tuesday 19 December.

Kids Sing 2023

Last week we took a group of children to Kids Sing in Auckland. They represented our school and themselves extremely well. We are all very proud of them. A massive thank you to Mrs Corli Husselmann who has been leading the choir all year.  The commitment she has shown to our choir is fabulous as is the commitment of the children in the choir. The choir did so well and really showed their KERI values showing respect whilst listening to all other choirs.

Thank you to all our supporters who came along.

I’m so very proud of our school/kura, teachers/kaiako and children/tamariki who fully embrace Te ao Māori within the school not just last week but throughout the year.

Help shape the future of our school.

Edgewater College Concert

Thursday last week we were entertained by Edgewater College. They bought their Jazz Band, Choirs and soloists to our school for a very entertaining concert. The children and staff were blown away by the performance and felt like they were at a real concert.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week is being held this week. Here is the link to their great website. In 2023, Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) will be held on18 September to 24 September.

MHAW is run annually by the Mental Health Foundation and has been since 1993. MHAW is endorsed by the World Federation for Mental Health and is marked in over 150 countries at different times of the year.

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme is Five Ways, Five Days. Life has been a rollercoaster lately, with stress and overwhelm hitting us from all angles. We’ve faced uncertainty, unfamiliarity, and hardships that have left us with mixed emotions. That’s why we’re bringing you the Five Ways for the Five Days of MHAW, to give us a set of proven tools to boost our mental health when we need it.

Mā te whakarongo, ka mōhio

through listening, comes knowledge

Mā te mōhio, ka mārama,

through knowledge, comes understanding

Mā te mārama, ka matau,

through understanding, comes wisdom

Mā te matau, ka ora

through wisdom, comes wellbeing

Cross Country Interschools

The weather was not in our side for the scheduled event but a week later, the sun was shining and the students took to the event with all their heart and soul.

All children who participated set personal best times and came out triumphant with Josh Johansen and Gemma Dunn both taking out third in their individual events.  I was very proud of the year 5 and 6’s who were resilient throughout the whole day with many competing in the individual and relay races.  Can’t wait to see what next year brings. A big thank you to all our parents who drive us to and from the event.

Go Car Free on Friday 22 September!

Walk, scoot, bike, run, skip or dance to school on Friday – this movement helps our planet and our health and wellbeing.  All students who come to school ‘car free’ on Friday can come to the courts to sign our Silverdale Car Free Day banner. Let’s see how many signatures we can get!
