Why join a school board?

School board members are active leaders in our schools. They have an important role of supporting strong professional leadership and ensuring effective teaching for all students through informed governance.

Parents/caregivers and people in the wider community can be parent representatives. School boards need to represent the diversity of their school communities to ensure a bright future for all our children.

The school board elections are the opportunity to vote for candidates who will make a positive difference for children’s education. We need more people willing to use their skills and experiences for the benefit of students!

My Weekend
On the weekend I went to my Poppa’s house. I packed my clothes and my toothbrush into my bag. When I got to Poppa’s and got ready for bed I asked my mum “where are my pyjamas?” My mum asked my dad, “where are Mason’s pyjamas?” We forgot my bag of clothes at home! I had to buy new clothes!
Mason Collier, Room 4

A Moment in Time: The Savanna
I can see brown and yellow giraffes! I can hear a big scary lion roaring! I can smell the soft yellow grass. I can feel very spiky green leaves. I can taste the cold thin air.
Albert Zhao, Room 4

High Diving Giraffes
How did the giraffes get there?!? Maybe they stole a van, or maybe they charged through the city! What are they in? Maybe they are in a workshop? Am I really seeing giraffes doing flips? I am amazed!!!

Rainforest

I can see the spotty tiger hiding very well under the leafy plants. I can see the sleepy sloths hanging in the green trees. I hear the water rushing. I hear the chirping of birds. I smell the dark, brown mud. I feel the black mosquitoes biting me. I can feel a drip drop on my little head. I wonder how much rain falls in the rainforest?

Emily Friedwald, Room 6

Poison dart frogs

Frogs are amphibians. They can kill 20 000 mice or 10 adults. Their poison comes from pores on their back. Frogs lay beautiful eggs that turn into wonderful tadpoles. Then they turn into froglets and then they become frogs.

What I didn’t do at the weekend

At the weekend I went to The Warehouse. When we got there I picked out a toy. I wanted a monster truck but it was too much money so I found a ball. It was cool so I bought it. Next we went home and we saw a unicorn and we played soccer and it was so so fun. At the end the unicorn flew me up so so high that the cars looked so so small.

My Ballet Concert

I had my first ballet concert on Saturday afternoon. First me and my mum did not know where to go and then we found the wrong place. Our place was next door. We went in there and I got dressed for my practice. After we practised we got ready for the moment. I was so scared but…when I was on stage I was not scared anymore. After, all of my family came and one of my family members gave me some flowers and we went home. But my ankle still hurt. At my house I had a cushion under my foot. I had ice on the sprained part of my foot.

My Swimming Lesson

On the weekend I went to swimming. First we learnt our bubble-bubble-roll. Next we did backstroke. After that we learnt our super hero arms. In the pools I saw my friend Mila. Finally it was the end of the swimming class. I moved up. Suddenly my mum told me that my Nana broke her knee. She took so so long at the doctors. I was speechless. For lunch we had sushi. It was delicious. Then I got my grandpa’s fancy walking stick. I was pretending to be a granny. Then I was singing and saw my grandpa fall asleep. I was giggling.

The Zoo

At the weekend I went to the zoo because it was my cousin Annabelle’s Birthday. She invited Maia, Heidi, George and Naia and me too. Next we saw the elephants and we got to feed them grass. At last we went to the fish because they are Annabelle’s favourite animal. Suddenly, we heard a mega big roar!!!…then it got very quiet so we went to have a look. It was the lions and they fell asleep. We laughed. They were so funny. Finally we saw the penguins. They are so, so, so, cute. After a while we went to the park.

The Slimy Frog

I can see a slimy frog leaping around with long, strong back legs next to my house. It looks like a camouflaging carpet. I can hear the frog croaking again and again. You are noisy frog! I can smell the dirty damp dirty muddy frog in my backyard. I think my mum will say yes to keep the frog. It is very cute. I wonder if the frog has a home? I also think the frog is lonely in my backyard. Anyways my mum said yes to keep the frog. I love my frog because I love slimy stuff like frogs!

The Pretty Princess

Once upon a time 1000 years ago, there was a pretty princess and she was very selfish. She had the biggest throne ever! She was so selfish that she had mirrors all over her bedroom! She was the prettiest girl in the kingdom and every boy wanted to marry her so they all went to the castle to tell her… But the princess did not want to marry any of them, except one boy. They married, but after they married the boy didn’t like his choice so he said “I’m going to look for someone else to marry”. The princess cried and cried and was never happy again. The end

Moment in Time – Sloth

I can see the slow sloth hanging in the huge and tall trees. I can hear the squawking parrots and the peaceful rain pouring down carefully. I can smell the fresh and nice air and the blowing wind. I think the slow sloth has parents and maybe a baby sloth. He might be in love but I don’t know? I wonder if sloths are smart and clever? I sometimes like looking at sloths, I think they are smart and cute!

Serah, Room 10

Moment in Time – Sloth

I wonder where the really slow sloth lives. I think the sloth saw a red and green stripy slithering snake! I can see a beautiful sloth hanging onto the branches. I can hear the beautiful birds chirping on the tree branches. I can smell the beautiful trees and the beautiful breeze

Happy Ghost

Once upon a time a kind farmer and a happy ghost found a golden treasure in a magic house. There was no one there but lots of old stuff. Then the kind farmer and the happy ghost saw a brave fireman. The kind farmer said “What are you doing?” The brave fireman said “I’m finding out this magic treasure and what does it do?” “I don’t know” said the happy ghost. “Lets just go!” said the kind farmer. “Okay” said the brave fireman.

My bedroom.

I feel safe in my bedroom, it is cool.  It is amazing.  I like it.  My brother always goes in my room.  I am angry.

Once there was a dragon and it was breathing fire.  The dragon was flying, but why was he flying in the first place?  Then it quickly popped into my head, then I realised why it was flying in the sky.  Then it shot a fire ball into the sky.  Then my friend showed up, that was my friend I play with sometimes.  I only play with him on morning tea because me and my teacher made an idea of making new friends because I decided I want to play with other people.  Then I realised my friend had a horse.  But sadly the dragon liked the horse.  Then the dragon ran as fast as he could.  He ran so fast that he knocked the tree over and the tree nearly crushed me.  Then I saw something, it actually was a castle.

Kites

Kites sway in the sky like a beautiful butterfly.  They have lots of patterns and colours.  Most of the kites are shaped like a diamond.

Alissa Coetzee, Room 23

Kites

Kites can loop the loop and float in the wind and they can be diamonds, triangles and square and they are rainbow colours. Did you know the wind blows the kites so it can fly?

Max Clay, Room 23.

Kites

Kites can fly into the breeze. They sway and swoop in the breeze. Kites are beautiful. They are diamond shapes. Kites are different colours. They go up, up, up. Some kites are tiny and some kites are huge. If you don’t have a kite, you can make one with paper and bamboo. It will be amazing when you get the hang of it. On Thursday my class are going to Metro Park. Kites are like a unicorn when they fly.

Alice Bowater, Room 23.

 Kites

Kites can fly in the sky and swoop around by the clouds.  Kites are very colourful and bright.  Kites sway and dance in the bright sky.  Kites glide through the air and wind.

Lyla Taylor, Room 23.

Kites

Kites are a diamond shape.  You hold a string and put it in the air.  I like the rainbow colour of kites.  I like the way kites swoop in the air. They flutter all around the place.  Most kids fly their kites at the beach. Kites look like birds. But a different shape and it doesn’t have wings. They dance in the wind.  They give me a happy feeling. I love kites.
