FAQ’s

Q:  Can our friends and extended family members participate?

A:  Of course they can, we will have a registration tent on the school grounds.  Cost will be $10 per person – cash only please!

Q: Will the colour wash off, is the colour safe and will it damage my clothes?

A: Yes, by all accounts the colour washes off clothing, however to play it safe we recommend old clothes.  The colour shows up best on white tee shirts.  The colour is non toxic (coloured cornflour).

Q: Will we get wet?

A: Yes you will get a little wet and if you want, you can get A LOT wet.

Q: About the course?

A: Its around 2.5kms long with lots of fun activities for all ages on route.  There will be an adult at station 2 to advise the short course for our little ones.

There is no prize for the fastest person so have fun and do the activities.  We have told our helpers to not aim the colour at people faces, but in reality expect it all over you, especially mums and dads!

Younger kids may like to wear swim goggles or sunglasses to protect their eyes.  We will have water at each station to rinse eyes if needed and water to drink at the finish line.

Q: Will we all go out together?

A:  No, everyone will congregate at the start line and we will send waves of around 40 to 50 people out 5 minutes apart.

Q:  We have sports/ other activities in the morning.  Do we have to be there at 10:30am?

A:  Ideally we will love everyone to be there at 10:30am.  We will see how we will go, as the course is longer than the previous year, we would like the final runners to go through at 11:30am.

Q: What happens at the dance party?

A: This is a good chance for the kids to burn off any extra energy.  When you cross the finish line you can purchase some colour powder at $1 per bag and have fun in throwing some powder in the air!

Q: Will there be coffee?

A: Yes!

Q: What food is available?

A: We will have the following food trucks, Donut, Snowies Slushies, Jay Kitchen (they sell bacon & egg rolls, BLATs, hot chips etc), and PTA sausage sizzle.

Q:  Will there be EFTPOS?

A:  The food trucks will have eftpos, but the registration tent and sausage sizzle won’t, so please make sure to also bring some cash.

Q: What if its raining?

A: We wont cancel unless the weather is extreme.  School app will confirm any cancellation.

Silverdale Kindergarten Bikeathon and Gala – 27th March 2021- 10am-2pm!

Kaitiaki kindergarten is a kiwi not-for-profit organisation that strives to provide the best education for pre-school tamariki.

Therefore, FUNDRAISING is a big part of how we can finance the upgrading of our kindergarten outdoor environment.

Silverdale Kindergarten are hosting there annual fundraising event ‘Bikeathon and mini gala’ to raise money to upgrade the outdoor learning space! Our upgrade will hopefully include new soft fall, native plants, pathways to explore and an exciting extension to our carpentry area, and native fencing.

It’s a community event with food, raffles, amazing auctions, a chance to win $500, bouncy castle, games, plant stall, sensational seconds stall, helicopter simulator, cheerleading and a chance to encourage our young kindergarten children on their bikes. It will be held at the kindergarten on Silverdale School grounds.

The more we can raise at this event the less fundraising we will have to do for the rest of the year!
