New Kea Crossing Starting Wednesday 27 May

New Kea Crossing Starting Wednesday 27 May
The safety of our students is our absolute top priority. To ensure our tamariki can cross the road safely before and after school, we are excited to announce that our official Kea Crossing will begin operating this Wednesday 27 May on Millwater Parkway opposite Kingsway Primary School.
A Kea Crossing is a student-led, school-zoned crossing that operates only when the orange flags are installed and displayed.
Operating Times
Our trained student road patrollers and supervising staff will man the crossing during the peak school rush:
Morning: 8:30am – 9:00am
Afternoon: 3:00pm – 3:15pm
Guidelines for Drivers
Look for the Flags: When the orange Kea Crossing flags are out, normal pedestrian crossing rules apply.
Stop Completely: If a student patroller extends the “STOP” sign, you must come to a complete stop and wait until the sign is pulled back in and the children have safely reached the footpath.
Stay Alert: Please reduce your speed when approaching the school zone and avoid parking on yellow lines, as this blocks the vision of our patrollers.
Guidelines for Walkers & Cyclists
Please remind your children to use the designated Kea Crossing rather than crossing elsewhere on the road.
Cyclists and scooter riders must dismount and walk across.
Our student patrollers have been working hard during their training sessions and are eager to take on this important responsibility. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we roll out this new safety measure.
Thank you for helping us keep our roads safe for everyone.
