As many of you would have heard in the media about some magic sand being contaminated with asbestos. From investigations this morning it was found that three classrooms had used this sand in 2024. The affected classroom areas were immediately cordoned off and secured.
It is important to note that the risk to health is extremely low. The MOE’s certified assessor has confirmed this is a low-risk situation involving non-friable material (it is not easily made airborne). However, we are treating this with the highest level of caution.
The affected classrooms have been relocated into classrooms around the school. This will continue until we are given the all clear to go back into the classrooms.
